Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program (EBT)
Cherokee Nation Public Health is now taking applications for the Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Program.
Services provided are for eligible students within the Cherokee Nation Reservation and parts of the Muscogee Nation Reservation.
Eligibility for the program is based on free or reduced school meals and FDPIR data list. Households that are on a direct certification list from these sources will automatically be issued a card for SEBT. If your student attends a participating school, you do not need to apply, as they will automatically be enrolled in the program. Households can choose to OPT-OUT by contacting our office. A list of participating schools can be found below.
The Summer EBT program is funded by a grant through the United States Department of Agriculture to provide EBT cards through the summer months to children who currently receive free or reduced school meals.
Qualifying families will receive approximately $120 of free food per child issued in one benefit issuance on the EBT card, which works like a debit card and allows participants to purchase healthy foods when school is not in session.
Participation in this program will have no impact on other government assistance that participants may receive.
