STILWELL, Okla.— Cherokee Nation Health Services announced this week that Tracie Asbill has joined the pediatric care staff at the Cherokee Nation Wilma P. Mankiller Health Center in Stilwell.

Asbill-and-CooperAsbill received her Masters of Science in Nursing, specializing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, from the University of Oklahoma in May.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Northeastern State University in 2008 and worked as a staff nurse at Stillwater Medical Center and at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa.  In 2011 she became a nurse in the United States Public Health Service and has been serving Cherokee and other Native American patients at W.W. Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah.  She has received several awards from the U.S. Public Health Service, including the Commissioned Corps Training Ribbon, Outstanding Unit Citation, Chief Nurse Officer Award, Crisis Response Service Award, and the Field Medical Readiness Badge.

“We are thrilled to have Tracie Asbill as a part of our team at the Wilma P. Mankiller Health Center,” said Christi Cooper, director of the Mankiller center.  “For years, we have wanted to strengthen our pediatric care component of our health center by adding a second pediatric provider and this vision was finally accomplished.  Children’s health is a priority, so being able to increase access to care for that segment of our population is significant.”
